Did you know that Eddy's Volvo is a sponsoring dealership for the Butler Auto Tech Program? If not, you do now! Help spread the word to the auto tech enthusiasts in your life. Our team is super excited that Butler Community College is now offering luxury car repair training with our help. Due to Volvo's Car University Program, along with our Manager Jamie Lynch, Volvo Regional Representative Greg Ohanian, and the Dean, Mel Whiteside, the agreement was made possible to strengthen the auto mechanic workforce for the car company.

Volvo Cars issued this statement, "Volvo Car University supports local Volvo retailers in developing the next generation of technicians by facilitating training, tools, and vehicle availability at local colleges and educational institutions."

Butler Community College and Eddy's Volvo were proud recipients of the Wichita Business Journal's 2019 Innovation Award for this new partnership. According to Butler Community College, they are "proud to be one of the first collegiate Volvo Training programs in the country," and we couldn't be more excited for our partnership! Our Service and Parts Director at Eddy's Volvo, Todd Truitt, is the point of contact for providing all the tools and the resources Butler needs to make this program a success. "I'm excited about a new partnership with a local community college, and hope it can better equip students interested in the field with a more realistic idea of what they will be facing on a day to day basis," said Todd Truitt.

Mark, the Program Lead, with Butler Community College has just completed his training to become a Certified Instructor. All of the tools have already been provided and he plans on making this a part of the curriculum moving forward. Todd also had the opportunity of attending a recent career fair to visit with young professionals that might be interested in the program. He was excited to display a brand new Volvo S60 for attendees to look at that happened to be a big hit with the high school students. Todd even ran into customers of Eddy's Volvo during the career fair and they were all smiles about the new program.

We are thrilled that auto mechanic students at our area local community college will have the opportunity to learn the Volvo curriculum and to be trained on how the latest Volvo technologies work. Todd is proud to be a part of this partnership and to also be a part of Mark's Advisory and internship program that allows students to work in the afternoons at one of the seven dealerships on the Board.
